OUR HISTORY
OUR HISTORY
Art, Sr. started managing two Tresler Comet gas stations, eventually settling on running one at 1333 West 7th Street in Cincinnati. He made a living pumping gas, working on friends’ cars and a dock loader on the trucking terminal next door. In 1960 he started Wells Comet Service, a Tresler Comet gas station and auto repair garage just a few blocks from where we are now.
In 1961 he very quickly saw the need to switch the car mechanic division to a Tractor repair garage and purchased a building at our current location in 1973 - 1330 West 7th Street!
In January of 1979, Art Wells, Jr. joined his father full-time. He opened the Body side shop of Queensgate Truck Center after studying auto body repair and painting at Diamond Oaks Vocation School.
The company name was Wells Comet Service until the business was incorporated and changed to Queensgate Truck Center, Inc. in July 1979. Then in November, the body shop was added onto the building.
Doug Wells left a CPA firm in Phoenix, AZ to move back to Ohio and rejoin the family business. Doug and Art, Jr. took over the day-to-day operations shortly thereafter and have been running the business ever since.
In 2000 we built and opened our 2nd major addition on the building , which added 4 more trailer repair bays and massively increased the companies impact. Then in June of 2002 Doug and Art Jr. purchased Queensgate Truck from Art Sr.
